This paper aims to investigate the characteristics of high service quality and its relationship in determining UiTM’s Terengganu ability to provide a high student’s satisfaction level that may represents a world class university from the student’s perspective. More than 100 questionnaires were distributed to final year students from the Bachelors of Business Administration at UiTM Terengganu. Questionnaires were distributed to students who were attending a research methodology workshop. The questionnaires were used to measure the physical facilities, reliability, responsiveness, assurance, empathy and the learning outcome between what students expect and their actual experience. Furthermore, the student’s satisfaction level on the quality of the lecturers, physical facilities, the learning outcome and their demographic profiles were also evaluated. Result indicated that the student’s are satisfied with the quality of the lecturers, physical facilities and the learning outcome. However there are elements in the service delivery that need to be improved as indicated by gap between what the student’s expected and their actual experience

In this study, the ability of chitosan-immobilized Acinetobacter haemolyticus as biosorbent for chromium (VI) biosorption in batch system was investigate. Optimized parameter namely pH, contact time, biosorbent dosage and initial metal concentration obtained from the experiment was then applied for electroplating wastewater treatment. Biosorption using chitosan-immobilized Acinetobacter haemolyticus at pH 3, 8 hours contact time, 3% (w/v) of biosorbent dosage with 100 mg L 1 initial metal concentration resulted in maximum chromium (VI) uptake of 0.2 mg g 1. Using electroplating wastewater, the biosorption capacity of the chitosan immobilized Acinetobacter haemolyticus was 0.27 mg g 1 at pH 3 which is higher than unmodified pH

Personal branding for librarians: The way forward

    Get PDF
Librarians have always been labelled as knowledge gatekeepers and persons who ‘shusshhh’ people around. However, that may be true years and decades ago. Going forward, do we librarians want to be labelled as such? A brand is a promise delivered. It is our reputation and legacy. Branding is a practice of producing trust which when we market our services, we do so with a promise to meet or exit the expectation of the customer. Academicians talk and discuss the importance of personal branding with fellow students all the time. However some students are just too sceptical to agree and follow the path and information which have been identified for them. Many students are unaware that personal branding does not happen overnight. It takes quite a while for a person to have a personal brand which would suit a person and does not look fake on him or her. This paper discusses the importance of personal branding for all future librarians and how it would assist them to succeed in the challenging working world. It also discuses on how UiTM would create and mould its outstanding future librarians

The aim of this study are intended to compare periodic and stochastic tide models generated by using FFT frequencies and astronomic frequencies. The Fourier series are used to simulated peri- odic model, and the autoregressive method is employed to simulate stochastic model. 253 domi- nant FFT frequencies and 9 astronomic frequencies are used as constituent frequencies to simulate periodic models. 512 hours of data are used for the model. Results of this study present that the periodic and stochastic models using the FFT frequencies give more accurate results than periodic and stochastic models by using the astronomic frequen - cies

Variabel terikat status tekanan darah.

Spelling Arabic Personal Names in English

    Get PDF
Scholarly journals and other academic institutions which publish on Arabic and/or Islamic issues tend to enforce their house guidelines on transliterating Arabic terms and names. Most guidelines require the use of special characters, macrons, etc., which academics cannot but follow if they want to be published.  The guidelines, however, are not uniform across the board of journals. Despite the mandated adherence to the guidelines, the requirement apparently does not apply to the (English) spelling of the name(s) of the author(s) themselves. Different authors, whose first and/or family/last names are spelled in exactly the same way in Arabic, may spell their names in English in diverse ways. This article looks at how 103 individual Arab authors in sixteen English medium journals spell their own names. The survey covered the past four years/volumes. Using linguistic principles from phonology, morphology, word boundary, and Arabic orthography (in contrast to English orthography), this researcher proposes an account for the obvious diversity in name spelling by Arab writers. Keywords : names, orthography, Romanization, transcription, transliteratio

DESIGN AND PERFORMANCE ASSESSMENT OF A PHOTO-FENTON REACTOR WITH IMMOBILIZATION OF FE ON NAFION MEMBRANE; FOR REMOVAL OF PAHs FROM THE SUPPLY WATER

    Get PDF
Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbon (PAHs) presence is detected through various medium in Malaysia, however there is no regulation on limitation of PAHs disposition to the water system. Conventional biological treatment are not able to completely remove the pollutants from the water system. Photo-Fenton chemical oxidation treatment which utilizes hydroxyl radical are able to degrade recalcitrant chemicals such as aromatic compounds. A photo-Fenton reactor is designed with immobilization of Fe on Nafion membrane for PAHs removal from supply water and performing assessment based on its effectiveness and efficiency. Assessment was done to obtain the optimum settings including hydrogen peroxide concentrations, UV light, and retention time. Total Organic Carbon and Chemical Oxygen Demand is taken as the observance parameter to determine the degradation of PAHs. PAHs presence were determine using UV-VIS scanning spectrophotometer. TOC degradation is observed at 94.6% pollution reduction with optimum reaction time of 85 sec and H2O2 concentration of 0.3 mg/L. COD degradation is observed at 87.7% pollution reduction with optimum treatment time of 70 sec and H2O2 dosage of 0.3 mg/L

Between Veneration for the Text and Vernacularization of the Spoken Form in Quran Recitation

An argument is made in this paper attempting to show that the purportedly intended sanctification accorded to reciting the Quran by adherence to certain phonetic coarticulation operations goes against the noble intention itself. This principle of Tajweed rules requires that anticipatory (i.e., regressive) consonant assimilation (should) apply where its phonetic conditions obtain. The paper argues that this process results in making the oral product of such recitation come closer to vernacular speech than to standard speech. The argument of the paper extrapolates from the attested universal use of such coarticulation assimilation in vernacular or casual speech in languages of the world.
